Minnehaha Park – Molly & Chad’s Engagement

It is rare to have live music during an engagement shoot, but now that I’ve been spoiled with it I might have to start requesting it for every shoot! It was so much fun! Molly is a very talented singer and Chad is equally as talented on the banjo.

You might remember Molly and Chad from Anna and Ted’s rustic Withrow Ballroom wedding last summer, Molly and Anna are sisters. It was such a pleasure to reconnect and hang out with them again!

Molly and Chad are such a fun couple – incredibly laid back, loving, and not afraid to live life out loud. They brought their dog and a banjo to the place they got engaged and we wandered around Minnehaha Park enjoying the spring morning. The apple blossoms were in full bloom and they were so lovely. If I could carry an apple blossom tree in my back pocket I would not mind at all. I just wanted to crawl into their branches and take a nap.

Mill Ruins Park + Stone Arch Bridge – Emily & Reed’s Engagement

Living in St. Paul I often find myself — well, staying in St. Paul. During this engagement shoot with Emily and Reed I discovered a few new Minneapolis gems, first of which was this awesome mural. Emily had driven by it and thought it would be a great place to start our afternoon. I know they didn’t plan it on purpose, but Emily and Reed’s outfits totally coordinated with the mural and they looked terrific together!

Another place in Minneapolis I had never been was Mill Ruins Park — I know, I know, I need to get out more! :) Wandering around the ruins was great. The colors, textures, and light were so pretty. Thanks for getting me out of St. Paul and into the great city of Minneapolis, Emily and Reed!

Theodore Wirth Park, Minneapolis – Kate & Ben’s Engagement

I really enjoyed this Sunday morning engagement shoot with Kate and Ben! It is always fun to see how other people live, and Kate and Ben’s apartment was charming – I love the bold colors, especially the red dining room walls. Their adorable dog, Guillaume was excited to have a visitor, and as soon as I gave him my full attention he looked straight at my camera and was quite the model. After awhile we headed outside to nearby Theodore Wirth Park, which happened to be the place Ben proposed! It is a beautiful park and the leaves were just starting to change, making it an absolutely gorgeous fall morning. Kate and Ben were so great and I really enjoyed getting to know them more, which makes me even more excited for their wedding next year!

Hemlock Preserve, Esko – Stephanie & David’s Rehearsal

I was introduced to Stephanie and David through my good friend, Tia Keobounpheng. They were in need of a photographer for just their rehearsal, and after hearing what they had planned for 60 of their closest friends and family, I was definitely excited to share in their wedding weekend!

Stephanie and David are such a sweet couple and their tender demeanor with one another was so endearing. I had so much fun taking their portraits on truly their last day of engagement! The rehearsal dinner at Hemlock Preserve in Esko, MN was amazing! The property has a fabulous old barn with a comfy lower level full of antique couches and decor, and the upper level is just as unique. There is also an authentic Finnish sauna – hot and ready for guests to enjoy after dinner – how cool is that (FYI – Stephanie and David got engaged in a sauna)! The rustic charm and relaxed celebration was enjoyed by everyone, including me!

Congratulations Stephanie and David! You are truly a beautiful couple and it was my pleasure to meet you!

Nina’s Coffee Cafe – Kelly & Casey Engagement

Kelly and Casey are such a fun couple! We had quite a chilly May Day engagement shoot wandering around the Selby Western neighborhood but the buds were out and the soft overcast light was beautiful. We headed over the the quaint Cochran Park and eventually ended up at a favorite spot of Kelly and Casey’s (and mine), Nina’s Cafe. We all warmed up with a cup of delicious hot chocolate! It was the perfect way to end our chilly shoot!

Crosby Park and Target Field – Jena & Tom Engagement

Guthrie Theater – Matt & Beth’s Engagement

Matt and Beth’s engagement shoot at the Guthrie Theater in downtown Minneapolis was sweet and a little bit sexy! It was a good mix of the bold architecture, colors, lighting, silhouettes, and a pretty amazing couple! Matt and Beth are so much fun — they don’t take themselves too seriously and really just love to laugh.

The Guthrie lets photographers use the space with really no limitations — no permits or red tape to get around. Which is awesome! We explored and just played around — and because there was no show on the day of our shoot it felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Here are some of my favorites of Matt and Beth. I can’t wait for their wedding in August!
